Run CFIL on the Clarion (.DAT) data file
Document ID : 000-000137 Created: 6/09/1998 Last changed on: 5/22/2001
Use the CFIL utility to attempt to recover or convert a Clarion (.DAT) data file
To run the CFIL utility:
Open a DOS prompt
Navigate to the directory where NK is installed
type:
CFIL (enter) -- to start the CFIL utility
Enter the name of the dictionary (usually NKFILES.CLA or NKCAP.CLA)
Enter the name of the source file or the damaged file (table)
Enter the name of the file (input file)
The output file should be the same as the input file.
Press Ctrl-Enter to start the utility
NOTE: Windows NT has a bug that affects file renaming. When running the CFIL utility under NT you need to rename the input file before running the utility.
For example, if you need to convert the SCMNK.DAT file, first rename SCMNK.DAT to something else .DAT such as SCM1.DAT. Use SCM1.DAT as the input file name and make SCMNK.DAT the output file name. Alternatively, find a W3.x, W9.x or OS/2 PC and run the utility from that PC.
