Duplicate MAC addresses (ethernet address on the Network Interface Card - NIC Card)
Document ID : 000-000153 Created: 7/28/1998 Last changed on: 7/28/1998

Audit data for a PC can be lost if two PCs on the network have the same MAC address.

Duplicate address sources:

1- W95 stores the MAC address on the registry and only updates this entry during setup. Thus it is possible that the registry entry be obsolete, specially when W9x PCs are installed by copying images of hard drives

2-Incorrect audit utility version. Make sure that you are using the correct NetKeeper audit utility for your network installation.

3-Incorrect environment variable or value if using the univesal network version of the audt utilities
