Reset the modem to factory defaults
Document ID : 000-000196 Created:10/22/1998 Last changed on:10/22/1998
To reset most modems to factory defaults you need to send the following commands to the modem:
AT&F (enter)
AT&W (enter)
ATZ
The first command (AT&F) recalls the configuration stored and programmed in ROM at the factory. This operation completely replaces the command options and S-register values in the active configuration with those comprising the ROM configuration for your modem
The second command (AT&W) writes the active profile to non volatile memory in the modem. Since the previous command retrieved the default settings, this command will save the default settings as the active profile.
The third command (ATZ) does a soft reset on the modem and initializes the active profile. This is generally the only setup string required to run NetKeeper Comm Server.
Notes:
You can use the Modem Setup string in NetKeeper Communications Server to send the commands to the modem:
1- Start the CapCom (NetKeeper Communications Server) program
2- Select SETUP | Setup Options
3- Select the modem tab
4- Enter AT&F&W in the modem setup string
5- Click on OK to save
6- Click on operate
7- Wait about 5 seconds (to send the initialization command)
8- Click STOP SERVER - The server will stop after a few seconds
9- Select SETUP | Setup Options
10- Select the modem tab
11- Enter ATZ in the modem setup string
12- Click on OK to save
13- Click on operate
14- Modem should operate normally
