Checking the error log from field audits of stand-alone PCs

Field audits data is usually saved to diskettes or other removable media and then merged into the main NetKeeper LAN inventory database.
It is often useful to view the automatic audit log to check for errors logged during the audit process. The automatic audit log is generated by the 16 bit or 32 bit audit utilities. The utilities don't, in general, display errors to the end user. Instead, errors are logged to a file. The utilities also log progress notes such as audit start or end.
The log file is NKLOG.DAT
The log data for field audit is stored in the diskettes (or other media) used during the field audit. The audit log data from field audits is not merged into the main database.
To view the automatic audit log form a field audit:
*- Place the data diskette in drive a:
*- Open a COMMAND BOX (DOS BOX)
*- Navigate to the directory were NetKeeper is installed
*- Type CSCN (and press ENTER) to start the Clarion Scanner utility
*- Enter NKLOG in the input file field
*- Press ENTER
*- Select DATEKEY to display the log by date
*- Press ENTER
*- Press ENTER again to view the file
*- Scroll to the right (use the right cursor key) until the column EVDATE is highlighted
*- Press CTRL+F to format the column
*- Enter "d2" (without the quotation marks) to format the column as a date
*- Delete any other format string on the column and press ENTER, the column data now displays as dates
*- Scroll to the right to highlight the EVTIME column
*- Press CTRL+F to format the column
*- Enter "t1" (without the quotation marks) to format the column data as time
*- Delete any other format string on the column and press ENTER, the column data now displays as time
*- Scroll to the right until the DESCRIPTION column is displayed
*- Scroll down this column to check for error messages
Press ESC one or more times to exit the utility.
