*- Backup your program and data before updating your NetKeeper programs.
*- To exchange or share data, all NetKeeper programs and accessories must be at the same version and revision level.
Updating to version 6.3
*- Backup all your NetKeeper programs and data. This is very important!
*- Delete all program and dll files in your NetKeeper Help Desk Captain
directory. (Delete *.exe and delete *.dll)
*- Install the upgrade to your current NetKeeper Help Desk Captain directory.
This is important to preserve your existing data.
*- Update your SCMNk file. Use the CFIL utility to update your SCMNk file:
Open a command window (DOS box)
Type: CFIL (and press enter) to start the CFIL utility
Source file is NKCAP.CLA
Label is SCMNK
Input file is SCMNK.DAT
Output file is SCMNK.DAT
Press Ctrl+ENTER to convert the file.
Note for NT users. Rename the SCMNK.DAT file to TEMP.DAT before running the
CFIL utility as NT has a renaming quirk. Use TEMP.DAT as the input file and
SCMNK.DAT as the output file.
Note for users upgrading from versions than 6.16: The program will report
error 47 for files that need upgrading. Run the CFIL utility on these files to
upgrade them to the current database layout.
Error 47 indicates a database and program mismatch. Use the CFIL utility to update a data file (table) to the new version.
