Check the network protocols used by SQL Server

To check the currently enabled network protocols use the svrnetcn.exe utility.

Run the svrnetcn.exe from
Microsoft SQL Server\80\Tools\Binn folder

Then check that the TCP/IP protocol (or you favorite protocol) is enabled.

Workstations will not be able to connect to SQL server unless at least one protocol is enabled.
