YEAR 2000 COMPLIANCE TOOLS |
|||
| Most if not all modern PCs have two internal clocks: the System Clock and the RTC or Real Time Clock. The Systems Clock and the RTC are independent time pieces. One or both can fail to process year 2000 dates correctly.
When you turn on your PC, the Operating System software (the software that runs your keyboard and your disk drives) reads the RTC and sets the System Clock’s date and time. The RTC is read only when you power on your PC and won’t be read again until you turn your PC off and then on again. Usually the System Clock handles the year 2000 correctly though some older computers running older versions of DOS will not handle year 2000 dates correctly. Most RTC also handle the year 2000 dates correctly. Many PCs fail at reading the RTC and then setting the System Clock. So your computer is still alive and well The NetKeeper Year 2000 Automated Test program will check:
The NetKeeper Year 2000 Automated program is also included in NetKeeper Express LAN Inventory program. NetKeeper Express documents the software that is Year 2000 compatible and automatically inventories all hardware, software and configuration files. The data is also accessible in NetKeeper Help Desk Pro and NetKeeper Help Desk Captain.
